Logistics market meeting highlights vitality of the sector

The international fair SIL Barcelona (Salón Internacional de Logística - International Logistics Exposition), leader of logistics, transport, intralogistics and supply chain events in southern Europe, was held last spring in the capital of Catalonia and highlighted the boom of the sector within the territory. The Nordlogway team did not want to miss the event, which was of great importance this year. The objective of our attendance was to get to know the last trends in the logistics market and meet new suppliers.

After twenty-one editions and two years of absence due to Covid-19, the annual meeting took place again at Zona Franca of Barcelona with over 650 registered companies and more than 12.000 attendees. A meeting of such a number of companies from the sector is an indispensable chance for businesses like Nordlogway, always willing to acquire knowledge and explore further. The official count assures that the 2022 edition generated more than 6.500 contacts in networking circles. These numbers prove, once again, the future of logistics in our country due to lack of storage space in the metropolitan area.

One of the issues dealt with at SIL this year and which Nordlogway strongly supports is the debate about more sustainable logistics. Nordlogway has recently been awarded with EcoVadis silver medal for business sustainability. The medal recognises Nordlogway in qualification which includes environmental impacts, labour practices and human rights, ethics and sustainable purchasing. We keep on improving in this area and we follow the example of some companies which also attended the Fair in Montjuic.

According to the study by the Logistics Observatory, carried out by Cimalsa, in 2021 logistics already represented more than 14% of the Catalan GDP and directly employed more than 120,000 people, ranking as the second European area with the greatest weight in this activity in relation with GDP, below the Netherlands.
